On Windows operating system, you need to follow the steps given underneath to fix error 1013:
- Go to Start, then Programs, then Accessories.
- Now open either Wordpad or Notepad.
- Click on ‘Open’ from the file menu.
- Now you need to browse to Windows/ System 32 /drivers
- In the ‘files of type’ category select all documents.
- Now open hosts.
- Delete all the lines that have ‘gs.apple.com’ or something similar.
- Press Save
- Now you can restore your device.

On the Mac operating system, you need to follow the steps given below:
- First go to the ‘Applications’ folder on your Mac.
- Next move over to the ‘Utilities’ folder.
- Open ‘Terminal’.
- Now key in “sudo nano /etc/hosts” and hit on run.
- Type in your password.
- Now use the down arrow key to locate the ‘gs.apple.com’ entry. Once the cursor is placed in front, you can comment all the lines by entering ‘#’ before the text.
- Now you need to save the file. In order to do that press Control+O.
- Now you need to exit nano editor; to do so press Control+X.
- Restore your iPhone now.
