How to Fix iPhone Error 1015

The iPhone 1015 error is a commonly occurring error. It occurs when a computer tries to restore an iPhone device to a previous version. When this error occurs it implies that there is some problem with the Windows system and that it must be resolved by cleaning up the automated tools and methods.

Suppose you have iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 which runs iOS 4.0.1 and with the SHSH blobs saved. Now suppose you want to restore your iPhone to iOS 4.0.1 again. As Apple does not sign OS 4.0.1 anymore you will not be able to rsstore your phone to iOS 4.0.1 by pointing iTunes to the iOS 4.0.1 ipsw file. If you try to do this an error will be thrown up by iTunes. The error message will inform you that your device could not be restored and that it was not eligible for the requested build.

When is the iPhone error 1015 caused?

The iPhone error 1015 is caused dues to the following problems:

  • When iTunes is not installed properly.
  • When the installed version of your iPhone has some problem or damage.
  • When Windows is not able to run properly.

 

Fixing Error 1015

  • When you try to downgrade your iPhone, you will find error. On encountering that error you need to close iTunes but the iPhone hould not be disconnected. Now you will receive another message asking you to connect to iTunes screen. If you do not get any such message you need to restore your device again.
  • Now you need to download Quickpwn but do not do anything with it.
  • Now you need to go to C: \Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support. After this create new folder and name it ‘bin’.
  • After the ‘bin’ folder has been created all files from the Mobile Support Device folder should be cut and pasted into the ‘bin’ folder.
  • Now the Quickpwn zip file needs to be extracted. Once done, you have to double-click on the pineapple icon.
  • Now you need to follow the instructions given to you on-screen so as to boot your device.
  • Once you see the Apple logo on your iPhone quickly close Quickpwn and disconnect your iPhone from the computer. If all the above steps are carried out as instructed, the phone shoud boot properly with the downgraded version of the firmware.
  • If you want your iTunes to function properly you need to go to       C: \Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin and copy all the files to the folder named Mobile Device Support. After this delete the ‘bin’ folder.
